The Mission Contributor Personnel Dataset records the number of UN troops, police, military observers, and total personnel contributed by all participating UN member states in each UN peace mission from 1990 through 2018. These data are thus a significant expansion of the Mission Personnel Dataset. Whereas the Mission Personnel Dataset records only one observation per mission-month, the Mission Contributor Personnel Dataset records an observation for each UN member state that contributes personnel in each mission-month.
These data allow scholars to evaluate member state participation in UN missions, mission stability, peacekeeping effectiveness, and associated processes.
The data include mission acronyms, the country/countries to which each mission is deployed, and values for each of the personnel types listed above. To allow these data to be merged with additional datasets, the country code for the mission host and the member state contributor countries are recorded using Correlates of War country codes.
The data are available in Excel (.xlsx) format, and can be downloaded here.
